Synopsis
Renee Maxwell lands her dream job as assistant to archaeologist Damon Cubins in wondrous Turkey. However, she starts seeing strange things after finding a unique crystal. For one, hot Damon now looks like the sexy demi-god and underwear model of her dreams. Her feminist ideals are challenged with each bit of banter and seductive look he gives her, but she's not falling for his charm.

Time is of the essence for incubus, Damon Cubins, who must find a one-of-a-kind crystal or turn into a full-fledged demon. He has neither the time nor desire for love, but his new assistant tests his resolve. When he discovers she’s got the crystal he needs to save himself, he must make a decision to either romance it from her or walk away. But can he?

My thoughts
I was so surprised by this book. It's easy to read, with a fast paced plot and likable characters. I love the mix between paranormal, romance and the erotic parts. This book could easily have gotten 5 stars from me, because I highly enjoyed and couldn't find anything about the story that I didn't like. I will explain why the book got 4 stars from me.

Pros
  • Erotic/Paranormal: I love the mix between paranormal and erotic, because this book does contain some very detailed scenes. I've not seen a mix between these genres often and I like that the erotic part doesn't take the overhand. I read a lot of books that are a bit erotic, but the erotic is way too overwhelming. That was not the case for this book! I like the balance.
  • Tension: There is tension... Not your action/thriller tension, but sexual tension. It builds and builds and I love the way the characters push and pull and wait out, it makes that the tension keeps building.
  • Main character: I LOVE Renee. She is fierce, brave, smart, witty and she feels like a real person. She has her bad sides and fears and a difficult past as well and that's why I believe everything about her.
  • POV switch: I usually don't like POV switches, because I can't connect with the characters that way, but I love how the chapters switch between Renee and Damon. You read both their opinions on the things that happen in the book and about each other and that makes it very enjoyable to read!
Cons
  • Errors: Okay, so I don't want to sound rude, but it feels like the book is rushed to be finished. It feels like it hasn't been checked properly. There are lot of repetitions, errors and letters or words missing. It made the reading experience a little less pleasant and I think this book could easily get 5 stars if the errors were fixed.
Overall
There is another book by Andrea R. Cooper on my to-read list and I can't wait for it. This book makes me expect a lot and I'm very glad to have discovered another author that writes good books! The characters are believable and the story was fast paced and easy to read. I love the mix between the genres and the POV switches, (you don't hear me say that often). I recommend this book if you like paranormal books with a couple of explicit erotic scenes. It's a good balance!

Thanks for reading!
