Synopsis
Follow Peter and Fi as they work together, each searching for something uniquely special to them through the four kingdoms of their known world. It’s a tale of fantastical beasts, peculiar characters, remarkable settings, and a unique brand of biochemistry-based magic. A story that focuses on meaningful character interactions, delicate world building, and intense action battles.

 My thoughts
Peter and Fi sure do live through a lot of adventures. You get dropped into the action right away. I love how Peter has some crazy skills and Fi is adorable with her big ears. I do feel with some additions and less violence this could also be a great series for Middle Grades!

Pros
  • Action: Every chapter has a great set of action in it. It usually builds up to the action every chapter and then you're rewarded with some awesome action scenes. I love how Peter and Fi work together to get out of perilous situations, or how they save one another.
  • World building: This feels awesome! It reminds me a bit of a game world like Fable or something. With all the different species and monsters that you have never even met or heard about. I can always appreciate a good world building that comes from the mind of an author.
  • Fi: Fi is the coolest character in this book. Her personality is so well developed. She is so bubbly and positive and sees everything as a challenge or an adventure. So hard not to love.
  • Ending: In the final chapters of this book you get more answers, also about the necklace Fi is wearing and where she comes from and what the big mission is that she talks about throughout the book. It's well done, to write the book like that.
Cons
  • Characters: Apart from Fi, the other characters felt a bit shallow for me and lacked a bit of depth. I didn't like Peter as much, he felt a bit more flat. The other chapters have various of characters, and I actually only was intrigued by the little princess and no one else...
  • Story overall: This book felt more like a 0.5 book, if you get me. It reminded me a bit of The Assassins Blade in the Throne of Glass series, where you follow the main character on different adventures, and get to know her, and after that the real book starts. This book felt like that too, like now I know Peter and Fi, the real story is starting.
Overall
Great world building and lots of adventure. If you're a Fantasy/Adventure fan, you will like this book. It's full of action and you will also get the answers you seek in this book. And I'm sure you will fall in love with Fi. One of my favorite characters in a while.

Thanks for reading!
