Synopsis
After winning the brutal Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta return to their district, hoping for a peaceful future. But their victory has caused rebellion to break out ... and the capitol has decided that someone must pay. As Katniss and Peeta are forced to visit the districts on the Capitol's Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. Unless they can convince the world that they are still lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying. Then comes the cruellest twist: the contestants for the next Hunger Games are announced, and Katniss and Peeta are forced into the arena once more.

My thoughts
I'm currently re-reading The Hunger Games series. I like the books as much as I did when I read them the first time, even though I know the big plot twists. The books are action paced and you can easily rush through. I love how certain events in the first book are a big part of this book. The author added some amazing new characters, but also kept your beloved ones in this book. A smart move.

Pros
  • Characters: I'm sure, that if you liked the first book, you'll be happy to see that all of the characters from the first book appear in this book as well. It was fun to read about their growth and their lives after the first book. A smart move by Suzanne Collins, is that she also added a whole bunch of new characters.
  • Evil: President Snow is such a big threat in this book. If you've read my reviews before, you'll know that I love me a good evil person in a book. President Snow is one that you don't want to mess with. There are deaths and threats and his anger is very real.
  • Action: I loved the action paced scenes in this book. It doesn't feel rushed and it doesn't feel overly detailed. It feels just right and it added a new layer to the book.
  • Worldbuilding: The first book was so creative in the worldbuilding, with the Hunger Games and the arena and the journey and events towards the games. This book is creative as well. I love how in this book, there are the 75th Hunger Games and it's a real special treat from the gamemakers. I'm not going to spoil anything, but CLEVERLY done!
  • Ending: I already knew how the book would end, but I remember being in SHOCK when I read this book the first time. It's so smart, so well done and it got me pumped and excited for the third and final book in this trilogy.
Cons
None.

Overall
I feel that this is the best dystopian series that I've ever read. It's easy to get through, action paced and full of plot twists. I would recommend this book to any person that is interested in dystopian novels.
