Synopsis
Spencer stole her sister's boyfriend. Aria is brokenhearted over her English teacher. Emily likes her new friend Maya . . . as much more than a friend. And Hanna's obsession with looking flawless is literally making her sick. But the most horrible secret of all is something so scandalous it could destroy their perfect little lives.

And someone named "A" is threatening to do just that. At first they thought A was Alison, their friend who vanished three years ago . . . but then Alison turned up dead. So could A be Melissa, Spencer's ultracompetitive sister? Or Maya, who wants Emily all to herself? What about Toby, the mysterious guy who left town right after Alison went missing?

One thing's for certain: A's got the dirt to bury them all alive, and with every crumpled note, wicked IM, and vindictive text message A sends, the girls get a little closer to losing it all.

My thoughts
I want to thank Books2Door for providing me with the PLL books.
Since reading the first book this summer, I was excited to get into this second book. I had never expected to give the first and/or second book 5 stars, but I did! I can just easily devour these books and it's so well written and has good pacing. That makes it effortless to read these books pretty fast.

Pros
  • Easy to get back into: I sometimes have a bit of a hard time getting back into series and I read a summary of the previous books when that happens. I did not have any trouble to get back into this book. While reading it was also pretty easy to get back into the book after a break and I was eager to keep on reading every time.
  • The secrets: The thrill, mystery, secrets and all that surrounds this book is amazing. I love every bit of it and I can't wait to see what happens next after every chapter. I'm SO pumped to read the third book, because I have a lot of questions left after this book.
  • Chapter names: The chapter names are great. It's so cleverly done. It makes me wonder what's to come in the next chapter and I also check back every time after reading the chapter. It added another layer of fun to the book.
  • Characters: The most amazing thing about this book is all the different and well written characters. They are so easy to keep apart even though there are loads of characters. I love the different secrets the main characters keep and their own lives and worlds that they are in. They all have their personal problems and I'm always curious to see how they solve them or make them worse.
Cons
  • Brands: I wasn't fond of all the brand names in this book. I get that it fits the book, but I was slapped around with so many brand names the first few chapters that it just overwhelmed me. I don't care that there is a Motorola headset, a Blackberry Phone, a Gucci watch, a Prada bag, and so on, and so on...
Overall
I really thought this series was some kind of chick lit with loads of drama added when I started reading it. I was so happy with the big amount of secrets and mystery in the first book. The second book totally keeps it up and leaves you with just as many questions! Where a question is answered, 2 new ones just pop up and I love it!

Memorable quotes from this book
"The sweetest smiles hold the darkest secrets..."

Thanks for reading!
I'd love to talk books; please let me know what you think about this book/review.
