Two Short Stories #21

Today I will be highlighting two short stories.
One of them is a thrilling short story and the other one an erotic/romantic short story.
Let's dive right in.

Title:
Calling Mr. Nelson Pugh
Author: Christopher Opyr
Pages: 69

HOLY COW THIS BOOK WAS A RIDE. I did not read the synopsis so I just went in blank, and I was so surprised. This is one of the most thrilling books I've read in a while. I also loved the way the chapters were named. I first thought I clicked wrong on my Kindle, but I understood in "Chapter 10".

Do you know that feeling when you're in bed and it's 1 AM already and you're like; "Just finishing this chapter". But then you keep reading and you can't stop? That's what happened for me with this book. It left me with only 6 hours of sleep and that's not much for me!

This was a very dark read. I wasn't sure if I was going to give it 5 stars, because there is so much pain, loss and anxiety. I wasn't sure if it was really enjoyable? But I understood that it was all necessary for this book. I was also hoping for a thrilling ending, a little bit towards the psychological thriller and I got exactly what I wanted! Even thought I maybe saw it coming a bit... ;)

The book wasn't too fast paced and also not too slowly paced, just the right pacing. I wanted more, more, more, but the book was only giving bits and pieces at certain times. I'm glad it wasn't too fast paced, it fit the book in the right way!

Title: Mountain Man's Therapy
Author: Ella Cooper
Pages: 97

I loved the story in this book. The cat and mouse game between Ruby and Nathan was my favorite part. The thing I liked most about Ruby is how caring, sweet and nice she is to the people around her.

The story in this book would make for a great romantic movie! I could easily picture everything that was happening.

I wasn't really sure about the connection between Ruby and Nathan at the first part of the book. In my opinion they had only one good conversation and 1 hot night together. It was hard to believe they had the connection that was portrayed in the book. I thought the connection they had at the end of the book was much more believable and that felt much better.

What I enjoyed in this book is that it was taking place over a longer period of time. The "months later" and at the end of the book the "years later" really made it a finished story.

Both books were fun to read and definitely worth the time.
Did you read any good short stories lately?
