Synopsis
Kingdoms will collide.

The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius as war looms on the horizon. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those who don't.
With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side, and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, and dark forces become poised to claim her world, the only chance for salvation will lie in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.

In this breathtaking fifth installment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, Aelin will have to choose what—and who—to sacrifice if she's to keep the world of Erilea from breaking apart.

My thoughts
I was a bit scared to read this big book, but I was so ready to continue reading about Aelin, Rowan, and all those other beloved characters.
This story did feel long, and I really thought I was going to give it 4 stars, but that ENDING... My gawd. I had the biggest bookhangover and really closed it with a sigh. There was almost two years between reading book 4 and 5, and I'm not going to let that happen again. I had a hard time getting back into the story. Book 6 is on the list to be read soon!

Pros
  • Ending: This ending... I remember saying to my boyfriend, right before the final 50 pages: This can not end good. Somebody is going to die... And boy, oh boy. I will not tell you if I was right or wrong, but I did want to throw this book so hard...... And that's a GOOD thing! I sometimes need a book that does that to you.
  • Story: This was a long story, a LOT is happening, but I always end up reading 100 pages, easily. I love the switching storylines and how they all come together. The story is an amazing ride and something is happening all the time, I love it.
  • Secrets: I did not see coming what was in this book. There were a lot of secrets and you will get a lot of answers. I'm just not sure if it's the answers you really want to hear. I have no idea how the story is going to continue from here on, but I can't wait to see what SJM came up with. Those moments of: "OMG" in a book are something I enjoy and SJM throws a couple of those.
  • Writing style: I LOVE the writing style. It's so beautiful, and it flows really nice. It's not laced with unnecessary hard words. Sometimes it feels poetic, but it's still easy to read a lot of pages and keep a nice pace going. I'm just really fond of SJM's writing style!

Cons
  • Needed some breaks: I don't really think that this was about the book, but I did take some breaks in between reading it. That's why it took a bit longer. I sadly have not finished any books in October, mainly because I was reading big books. I do feel like when you finish books it gives you a boost to keep reading, but that wasn't the case for me.
Overall
So far I've loved every series I've read by SJM. ACOTAR is a huge favorite and Throne of Glass is right next to it! If you're into fantasy I'm sure you'll enjoy the series written by SJM. I feel like she's really the queen of Fantasy for me and I just know she won't disappoint if I pick up her books. I'm ready to read MORE!

Thanks for reading!
I'd love to talk books; please let me know what you think about this book review.
