Synopsis
Jack Mooney, a career criminal, has been in prison for nearly a decade, quietly nursing his hatred for the jurors who put him there. One in particular gets him through the endless days—the alluring Amy Stone.

When Mooney is granted early release, he makes Amy his first priority. To his delight, she’s even more enticing than before, and better still, she has a lot more to lose than he’d imagined.
As Mooney’s campaign of terror mounts, the police seem powerless to protect the Stone family, who must rely on their wits to survive a psychopath hell-bent on revenge.

My thoughts
I was able to listen to this book pretty quick, it was a short book and only took a little more than 5 hours. This book was enjoyable to listen to. I did feel like it missed some marks and lacked some important parts to be a really good thriller.

Pros
  • Fast paced: This book was very fast paced, which can also be a bad thing. I'm not sure if it was maybe a bit too fast paced, but it also made me rush through. I had no trouble listening to the audio and getting hold of the story and feeling immersed into it. This is definitely a book that one can easily read in one sitting on a rainy October afternoon!
  • Anxiety: This book really did have some creepy parts when it comes to stalking. Some of the things that happened were so scary and made me feel anxious and a bit scared as well. The way the author came up with these things, was really good.

Cons
  • Emotions: While the things that happend were really scary, I felt like the characters and narrator lacked emotion. I feel like the book could have been a bit longer if the author had taken the time to really describe the emotions that the characters feel. It felt like the book stayed a bit shallow and missed a layer of depth because of this.
  • Plot: I was not a fan of the double stalker plot that this book has and I find it to be not that believable at all.
  • Ending: Some things that happend in the final part of the book were completely unnecessary and were only added for shock value. I was also left with the feeling that some things didn't add up and so the ending left me unsatisfied.
Overall
Really weird how a book can have some really shining parts and also some parts that don't add up or were not that great at all. I feel like this book is really a 3 star book, but does need a lot of work to get even close to a 4 star rating. This is a nice, quick read for someone that wants to read a fast-paced stalker thriller.

Thanks for reading!
