Synopsis
Elaro may have returned home to Agraxia with the Stone of Courage in hand, his mission publicly declared a success, but he knows the truth: he failed his team--and himself. All he has left to show from his journey to Valeria is one traumatized alchemist and a feral human child named Abel.

Now, Elaro has been tasked with turning that feral child from a skittish little boy into the legendary human warrior meant to save Terranum. Unfortunately, Abel is hiding a dark secret that may put all of Terranum in jeopardy.

Between dealing with Abel’s violent outbursts and with the mistakes from Valeria following him around like ghosts, Elaro must find a way to prepare his new human apprentice for the future journey to the Tower of the Heavens— if he can trust him— without losing his own soul in the process.

My thoughts
This series has a special place in my heart, because book 1 was the first audio book that could ever hold my attention. I was so glad to hear from the author that book 2 would be ready within the year and I loved it just as much. Every person that enjoys audiobooks should listen to it, and if it's not your cup of tea, maybe this series will change your mind! It did that for me.

Pros
  • Humor: The humor and witty remarks in this book are definitely there. I find myself laughing out loud about it all the time. It's so nice to read a book that just gets your humor and you get the authors humor. I loved it the most that Abel was called Eyeball, this cracked me up!
  • Book 2: I was shocked after book 1 and I was so curious how the story would continue. It's really well written that way, the characters from the previous book are still there and I loved to read more about them. I also liked how the previous book affects everything. It felt like this was the aftermath and I think the struggles were well written.
  • Voices: I.WANT.MORE. I love reading out loud to my students, but I'd never thought that I'd love to hear it too. The author has such a great telling voice and has a different layer in her voice for every character. There were also little drops of special effects, which weren't over the top and actually added something to the story.
  • Next?: I'm addicted to this series, to the audiobooks. I can't wait for a next book to come out and to see how the story continues. This series is so much fun to read!
Cons
I really don't know...

Overall
I'm quite disappointed when I see that only 19 people have read the first book. If you have some time left on your hands, you should definitely pick up the first book if you like Fantasy. I'd highly recommend you listening to the audiobook, because the reading is great! I need a next book SOON!

Thanks for reading!
I'd love to talk books; please let me know what you think about this book/review.
