Synopsis
Young and inexperienced, Elaro of Agraxia is made captain of a journey with stakes of life and death for the whole world of Terranum: to prevent the endless winter that has plagued his land from taking over the rest of the world.

To save the world, he and his companions must heal Terranum's soul by reuniting its shattered fragments. One of which is The Stone of Courage, a magic relic kept by the humans.

But centuries' worth of bad blood between the Agraxians and the humans, Elaro must find a way to recover the human’s soul fragment without succumbing to his greatest fear: becoming the monster the world believes him to be.

My thoughts
I've tried to listen to Audiobooks before, but never got through. I was willing to try and listen to this book while driving my car. Sadly, when I was at a very exciting part in the book, my car broke down. I couldn't wait to keep listening to this book! I feel like this debut by J.L. Trepanier is magical. The author made some bold decisions in this book, that not many authors dare to make.

Pros
  • The voices: First of all, the voice that reads this book is SO easy to listen to. I could focus on it for at least 20 minutes every time. The voice was flowing with the story and it was enjoyable to listen to. This author really made me fall in love with Audiobooks and I'd be more than happy to listen to an Audiobook again. I love how all the different characters are easily recognizable by the voice that it's given. Great job.
  • Worldbuilding: The world in this book is slowly unfolding while you read/listen to the book. There is not much explanation to the world and you're just learning and exploring more and more while the story unfolds. I really like this way of writing fantasy books.
  • Characters: The characters in this book are SO WELL WRITTEN. The personalities shine through with everything they do and say. I also love the variety in characters, there is a character for everyone to love. The personalities were easy to remember and although I finished the book two weeks ago, I'd be able to tell you everything about the characters.
  • ENDING?!: YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. I was telling myself all the time: This is not real, something more is going to come up. I'm sure the author didn't really do this... Well, she did. I APPLAUD BOLD DECISIONS!
Cons
Can't.

Overall
If you're a fan of Audiobooks and if you're not a fan or have never tried to listen to one, you should with this book! It's so easy to listen to, the story is amazing, there is adventure, friendship and lessons learned. And this ending...

Thanks for reading!
I'd love to talk books; please let me know what you think about this book/review.
