Synopsis
Celaena Sardothien has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak—but at an unspeakable cost. Now she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth...a truth about her heritage that could change her life—and her future—forever.

Meanwhile, brutal and monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. To defeat them, Celaena must find the strength to not only fight her inner demons but to battle the evil that is about to be unleashed.

My thoughts
I have never given Sarah J. Maas lower than 5 stars and I don't plan to do it today. Her books are unbelievable and I really hope she is planning to write many, many more books. I can't get enough of it. I have to slow down, because I don't want to be in that position that there is nothing "new" to read and that I have to wait very long...

Pros
  • Witch story line: I really liked the storyline from the witches in this book. From the blurb you learn that there are monstrous forces gathering, but to get to know them was so much fun. I actually started liking one of the witches and I'm curious what unexpected things she'll do.
  • History: In the other books that I've read, you learn that Celaena has had troublesome periods in her life. She really doesn't want to talk about it, or even think about it. I think that you learning more about Celaena's history is just the right time. It would feel a bit forced if you would not get answers in this book.
  • Characters: I like the new characters in this book and I'm always stunned how Sarah J. Maas can let me "fall in love" with her male characters over and over again. She does a good job at making you swoon.
  • Answers: With Celaena's history, there come answers. Lots of pieces of the puzzle now fit and it is addicting to get a little bit of information from every book. This book has more than a little information to offer and I was glad to read about it.
  • Excited: I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT BOOK. *kicks my too-full-tbr*

Cons
Insert cricket sounds.

Overall
Storyline, characters, plot twists, romance, history, action... The book has it all. What more can I say? Sarah J. Maas is my Fantasy Goddess!
