My score:

An unfortunate chain of events makes Philip responsible for the untimely death of the school bully Sam—the Devil’s original choice for an heir. Philip must return to Hell to find Sam and bring him back to life, so that fate can be restored. But trouble is stirring in Lucifer’s kingdom and not even Philip can imagine the strange and dark journey that awaits him. A journey that will take him through ancient underworlds and all the way to Paradise.

My thoughts
This series is starting to be a favorite for me. I'm always excited to start a new book and I'm never hesitant to pick it up again when I had a reading-break. This series reminds me a bit of Harry Potter, in the meaning that the main character is aging and the story is getting darker in the meantime. This book felt different from the other books, the previous two books felt lighter, the third book is a tad darker. Things are starting to get seriously!

  • Set up: The way everything is set up throughout the books is genius. Things that happened in the first book were important in book two, but still have a big impact on the story in this third book as well. I love how it's al leading up to something bigger in this series, which I don't know what it is yet, but I just feel something big coming.
  • Addition: This series is kept interesting because of the additions in characters every book. This keeps it fresh, but I'm also excited to keep reading, to see who I will get to know in this book. I loved that we visited new areas as well. I'm curious where Mr. Andersen's mind and imagination can take us in this series!
  • Shocking: There are things happening in this book that I didn't see coming, and they're pretty shocking, I loved it. I'm also a big fan of the change Philip, as a character, is going through. Very interesting to read, and makes me curious about the next book as well.
  • Bad things are coming: I feel it in the air, brewing, something electric, something horrible. War is to come, it's waiting out there and we're heading straight for it in this book. I'm SO pumped for the next book! I put it fairly high on my TBR, because I just really want to know what is going to happen.

This series keeps me curious and is able to surprise me with every book. New characters, new areas to visit and new shocking plot twists. I love how things from other books still have an impact on the story as it is. It's getting darker with every book, and as Philip matures, so does the story. It's genius. If I have to guess, book 4 is going to be a shocker and bad, dark things are waiting...

"A hero breaks the mold in this inventive and energetic series installment. The author's eerie atmospherics prove a continuous wonder. Humor remains vital to the narrative. Will have fans clamoring for the next volume."

" The author's vivid imagination drives the plot forward through great world building and character development. Yet again I raced through it."
