Two Short Stories #25

Today I will be highlighting two short stories.
One of them is a short story about a pack of bears and the other book is a picture book about loads of bad dad jokes.

Let's dive right in.

Title:
Arrival (The Black Bear Brotherhood #1)
Author: Henry Bassett
Pages: 35

This is a story like no other. It's from the POV of a bear; quite unique!

I think this story fits the world we live in now. The earth is not in it's best state and a lot of nature and wildlife is destroyed and killed by humans. I think this book totally fits that topic.

Some things were unclear to me, because they are written in the voice of the bear. He would also not know what some things are. It would've been nice if I were able to picture some things better in my head. The choice of words was also quite repetitive.

It was a sad story, a dark story. A story that kinda made me mad, because in this book bears are oppressed by humans. I'm not quite sure if I liked the story. But I also feel like this story wasn't written to be liked and enjoyed.

Title:
My Dad's Jokes are Very (Terribly, Awfully, Painfully) Bad!
Author: Jacob Eckeberger

I loved that this book contained a nice amount of adjectives. I've learned, when studying to become a teacher, that it's important to address these words actively!

If you've read these Two Short Stories posts before, you know I'm a sucker for a book that has rhyme. It's so much fun to play with words and rhyme just gives a book another edge.

I did feel like the story felt short a bit, because it was all about the jokes. But, hey! One can not have everything right?! I did LOVE the jokes in this book. I'm sure my 5th/6th Graders will love them too. I can totally see any Primary School Teacher read this book in class and having a laugh with the kids.

Both books were fun to read and definitely worth the time.
Did you read any good short stories lately?
